About Us
Detroit Central City Community Mental Health Inc. (DCC) has served the community for 40 years and is one of the Midtown Detroit area’s first non-profit community mental health agencies. We meet the needs of over 4,000 persons annually, providing food, clothing, shelter, employment and treatment services. We have a vast service area which comprises all of Wayne County, Michigan. Since inception, DCC has led the way for innovation in community mental health and is a recognized leader in Detroit and Wayne County. Examples of our innovation include DCC’s client run Inner City clubhouse, supportive housing, employment, literacy, and peer support specialist programs.
Our History
Founded in the late 1960’s as part of the Model City Neighborhood Program and incorporated in 1971, Detroit Central City is a non-profit agency with a 40 year history of providing services to adults in Wayne County, Michigan who have been diagnosed with a severe and persistent mental illness. Detroit Central City remains a landmark in the Midtown area of downtown Detroit primarily serving area residents as well as those being discharged from crisis centers, psychiatric hospitals, prisons and jails or who reside in adult foster care homes.
